ENVRIplus organized the 2nd ENVRIweek: European Environmental and Earth System Research Infrastructures met 9-13/05/2016 in Zandvoort.

ENVRIplus is a Horizon 2020 project, launched in 2015, bringing together Environmental and Earth System Research Infrastructures, projects and networks with technical specialist partners to create a more coherent, interdisciplinary and interoperable cluster of Environmental Research Infrastructures across Europe.

At the ENVRIweek, Research Infrastructures from all domains of Earth system science worked together aiming at capitalizing the progress made in various disciplines and strengthening interoperability amongst Research Infrastructures and domains.

IS-ENES2, the infrastructure project of ENES, is a member of ENVRIplus and shares (via its partners CNRS and DKRZ) technical and strategic expertise with the other Research Infrastructures by contributing to ENVRIplus Themes 2 (Data for Science) and 6 (Communication and Dissemination) as well as by having representatives in the Board of European Environmental Research Infrastructures (BEERI).

In particular, IS-ENES was involved in discussion and exchange on Identification and Citation Services  (PID service integration into the IS-ENES/ESGF data infrastructure as part of the CMIP6 developments and DKRZ/WDCC citation service), and Provenance. Work to come at cluster level involves further discussions on  design and issuing recommendations on the kind of cross-community services in these areas. The  BEERI addressed furthermore strategic issues and the participation to the European Science Cloud initiative.

Moreover, preliminary work conducted by ENVRIplus on collecting  characteristics and requirements of Environmental Research Infrastructures lead to the publication of an analysis document.
