This year, the performance optimization specialists Dr. Georg Hager and Dr. Jan Treibig will present at HLRS:

July 14-15: Nodel-Level Performance Engineering

http://www.hlrs.de/training/2014/NLP

Registration deadline is June 15, 2014

They are the authors of the book "Introduction to High Performance Computing for Scientists and Engineers" (2010)

Further a completely new course will be offered at HLRS on

July 16:   User-Guided Optimization in High-Level Languages

http://www.hlrs.de/training/2014/UGO

Registration deadline is June 16, 2014

In this course Sebastian Hack and Marcel Koester from the Compiler Design Lab at Saarland University will present new ideas and tools to raise the programmers control over compiler optimizations, i.e.

1) Noise  - trigger optimizations by annotations

2) Sierra - SIMD computations with compound data types

3) AnyDSL - create DSLs with associated optimization strategies
