The EU H2020 ESCAPE project brings together numerical weather prediction (NWP), climate and high-performance computing (HPC) communities to develop world-class, extreme-scalecomputing capabilities to European operational NWP and future climate models. One of the challenges
is toexecute complex state-of-the-art models of the atmosphere within tight production schedules.
Workshop sessions
The workshop sessions will be organised according to the following topics, including oral presentations, keynote speakers and panel discussions:
- Weather & Climate Dwarfs – aspects and fundamental building blocks underlying weather and climate services;
- Diagnostics methods and tools, co-design and algorithms development for use in extreme-scale,HPC applications, minimising time -and cost-
to-solution;
- Code adaptation and hybrid computing to exploit higher-level data structures, language abstractions, specialised accelerators and alternative technologies;
- Relevant EU projects involving HPC for weather, climate, ocean and sea, Earth System Modelling communities;
- Panel discussions on key issues from the workshop.
Location
Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), close to Poznan University of Technology. PSNC is a leading research and computing centre in Poland, innovating and providing highperformance and energy-efficient computing, optical networking and advanced applications to enable advances in eScience and engineering.
